Date of Birth: February 3rd, 1989

 Location: Nhamatanda, Sofala, Mozambique

High Education Degree: 8th Grade

Date/Year of Diagnosis: 2009 in Sena, Sofala, Mozambique

Medication Adherence: Regularly taking medications

Challenges: Rosalina faces significant challenges in providing for her family due to her lack of formal education and employment. This has led to difficulties in putting food on the table for her children, resulting in some days without meals. The condition of their small Reed house poses problems, especially during rainy days as it leaks, affecting their sleep. Her biggest aspiration is to provide a proper education for her three children, which has proven to be financially burdensome. Rosalina takes up odd jobs to cover education-related expenses, but it’s not sufficient.

Strong Christian faith, finds solace in reading the Bible and teaching her children about God.

Enjoys cooking and caring for her family.

Values interactions with people, seeing it as an opportunity to learn from them.

Dislikes the circumstances that led to her contracting the virus.

HIV Diagnosis: Rosalina was unknowingly exposed to HIV through her relationship with a man who had a wife with HIV. She got pregnant in 2008 and gave birth without knowing her own HIV status. In late 2009, during her second pregnancy, she was tested and received a positive diagnosis. Her husband denied any knowledge of the situation and even destroyed her medication. Despite the challenges, she persevered, secretly taking medication to protect herself and her unborn child. Unfortunately, all three of her children were born HIV-positive due to these circumstances.

Late 2016: Her husband passed away, and she moved to Nhamatanda with her children.

2017: Gave birth to her third child, who was also born HIV-positive.
